Nintendo Needs To Learn From Square Enix And Put More Of Its Games On Mobile Like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete

Alright, listen up, bro. Nintendo’s been killing it in the mobile gaming space with bangers like Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem: Heroes, but let’s be real—they’re missing out BIG TIME. You know who’s got it figured out? Square Enix, that’s who. They’re out here porting their classics to mobile, and Nintendo? They’re just sitting on a goldmine of potential. Like, where’s my Super Smash Bros. Mobile, huh?!

Square Enix: The MVP of Mobile Ports

Let’s talk about Square Enix for a sec. These legends have dropped Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Quest Builders, and a ton of other classics straight onto mobile. Sure, playing Cloud and his crew on a phone ain’t the same as a console, but having access? Priceless. Especially when some of these games are MIA on modern hardware. It’s like they’re saying, “Hey, you want nostalgia? Boom, take it.”

Meanwhile, Nintendo’s got… Mario Kart Tour and Super Mario Run. Like, bro, those are fun, but where are the real ports? You’re telling me I have to rely on emulators for OG Fire Emblem or Advance Wars? Get outta here.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete Is the Glow-Up We Needed

Okay, so credit where it’s due—Nintendo’s making some moves with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete. They took a free-to-play game, re-released it with premium features, and made it feel more like a console experience on mobile. That’s the kind of energy we need! Now, imagine if they did the same with New Horizons. Mind blown.

It’s not perfect, though. Like, yeah, it’s not exactly what fans have been begging for, but it’s a step in the right direction. At least they’re starting to realize people want premium content, not just microtransaction traps.

Nintendo’s Mobile Problem

The thing is, Nintendo’s got this weird thing about protecting their IPs like they’re some ancient treasure. And sure, we love you for it, Nintendo, but give the people what they want! Emulators are thriving because fans literally have no other way to play some of these classics. It’s like, “You can’t have it, but also, we’re not sharing.” Make it make sense.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on their spin-offs. Miitomo? Gone. Dragalia Lost? Gone. Even Dr. Mario World got the axe. Like, what are we doing here, Nintendo? Bring back some original mobile games, but make them GOOD. Look at the new Monster Hunter mobile game. You could totally do something like that. Super Mario Galaxy Pocket Edition, anyone?

Here’s the Play, Nintendo

  • Step 1: Port your classics. Ocarina of Time on mobile would print money. Facts.
  • Step 2: Spin-offs, but better. Give us unique games made for mobile, not watered-down versions of console hits.
  • Step 3: Combine it all. Like, imagine a Nintendo Online app with access to classic games, music, and exclusive content. Chef’s kiss.

Bottom line, Nintendo: take some notes from Square Enix and stop leaving money on the table. Fans are out here waiting, wallets open, and all you gotta do is hit that “port to mobile” button. Let’s make it happen, yeah?
